Christmas Tree in The Square, Market Harborough

360° VR panorama at night by the Christmas tree in Market Harborough town square, Leicestershire, England. The pano was taken on 5th January 2012.

The tree is sponsored by Market Harborough Building society (whose offices can be seen nearby), and was the centrepiece of the Christmas Lights switch-on event, which took place on 25th November 2011.

Behind the tree can be seen the War memorial, while further back the spire of St. Dionysius Church rises above the surrounding shops. As well as the Harborough building society, other nearby businesses that can be seen include Tesco, Cafe Nero, Halifax, and New Look.

Growing out of the slope of the earthworks, an old Hawthorn tree in blossom is blown about in the strong wind. Below bullocks walk in a line across the field.

Wakerley Great Wood 3

Today Wakerley Great Wood is a popular location for walkers and cyclists, with many trails and plenty of car parking space.

Bluebells grow in deciduous woodland, flowering in Spring before the forest canopy closes, while light can still reach the forest floor.

The park is well known for its flower displays, and features as an integral part of the town’s entry into East Midlands in Bloom each year. The town always does well in the competition, usually finishing within the top 5, and winning the competition in 2005.
